The firstborn of four, Sadie Allen grew up on an 80 head dairy farm, currently organic. Much of Sadie's inspiration comes from her farm life experiences.
As well as art, she enjoys raising animals, gardening, hunting and exploring the outdoors.
Sadie has pursued art her whole life. During childhood, she did sketch on paper, but also spent a lot of time sketching with chalk all over the barn floors and walls. Any surface that could be drawn on probably was drawn on, especially dusty farm equipment and frosted window panes. The encouragement of family, friends and teachers enabled her to land a BA in visual art from Keystone College, La Plume, PA. After graduating she returned to her family's farms to work and continue exploring art opportunities. Her generous uncle, also a farmer, provides her studio space to practice her craft.
Much of her work is representational, yet whimsical. Occasionally colorful, nonrepresentational pieces also make the scene. She is working on some children's books, teaching some art lessons and has been taking commissions for portraits, murals and other projects. One of her most recent projects on public view is the mural and ice cream cone at The Milky Way restaurant between Canton and Troy, PA. Another is the portrait of the founders of Hoover's Hardware at their store in Troy.
